Abstract
1338590 Load cells for aircraft B L H ELECTRONICS Inc 29 Dec 1970 [14 Jan 1970] Divided out of 1338589 24961/73 Heading G1N A load cell for use in determining the load on a centrally supported hollow axle by measuring the shear forces on each half of the axle comprises strain gauges 39-42 Fig. 2 mounted on a tubular member 34 fixed inside the axle 21 by radially expandable collets 36a, 36b, 37a, 37b, one such assembly being mounted on each side of a central support. The strain gauges are bonded in diametrically vertical locations on the inner surfaces of flexible portions 35c, 35d of member 34 and rigid end portions 35a, 35b are supported by the collets. The strain gauges 39- 42 are connected into a bridge circuit which measures the shear force and automatically cancels out the bending force.
