Abstract

1338559 Mixing apparatus TWEEDY OF BURNLEY Ltd 19 April 1971 [23 Jan 1970] 3382/70 Heading B1C Apparatus for mixing bread and plastics doughs and materials such as putty comprises a container 10 having a mixing device 14 (e.g. of the kind described in Specification 890403) rotatable about a vertical axis, and at least one body 24 attached to the container wall and having a forming surface 36 which is of substantially constant width so that it is vertical at the end 28 of the body and gradually becomes more nearly horizontal as the thickness of the body increases. There is a triangular baffle 38 in lower part of the container. The rotor 14 is rotated counterclockwise in relation to the bodies 24 shown in Fig. 1, and the material is formed into a rope which is discharged through an aperture 16 having a sliding door (20, Fig. 5 not shown) operated by a hydraulic or pneumatic jack (22). The container may be lined with ptfe and may be arranged to allow mixing to take place under vacuum.
