Abstract

1337848 Etherified and thioetherified thiourea - formaldehyde condensates REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT and AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 19 April 1971 [1 April 1970] 24524/71 Heading C3R [Also in Division C7] Formaldehyde is condesnsed with thiourea in a 2 : 1 molar ratio to give products having a degree of condensation of from 300 to 600 and from 1500 to 2000. The products are subsequently thioetherified or etherified with a compound having the formula HA-R wherein A is sulphur or oxygen and R is an aliphatic or aromatic radical (e.g. butanol, pentanol, hexanol, cyclohexanol, phenol, benzylalcohol, thiobutanol, thiophenol or diethanol thiourea) for example where n is the degree of condensation. The final products may be used in acid electrolytic copper plating baths as brightening and levelling agents (see Division C7).
