1448358 Preparation of dihydric phenol derivatives UBE INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 March 1975 [4 April 1974 7 May 1974] 11127/75 Heading C2C A process for preparing a dihydric phenol of the formula wherein each symbol R represents an alkyl radical having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and where more than one such radical is present, they may be the same or different, and n represents 0 or an integer from 1 to 4 and when n is 3 or 4, at least one of the 2-, 4-, and 6-positions is not occupied with an alkyl radical, comprises oxidizing a monohydric phenol of the formula wherein R and n have the above meanings, with H 2 O 2 in the presence of a ketone.
