Abstract

1337841 Copper electro-plating baths REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT and AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 19 April 1971 [22 Jan 1970] 20131/71 Heading C7B An aqueous bright acid electro-plating bath contains a Cu salt, e.g. sulphate or nitrate, a brightener, a surface tension agent and a higher alcohol modified urea-formaldehyde resin levelling agent of formula: resulting from the condensation of two molecules of formaldehyde with one molecule of urea the modification of the resultant product by an alcohol having at least 4 C atoms, e.g. butanol, pentanol, hexanol, heptanol, octanol or benzyl alcohol, or a derivative thereof, e.g. a glycol ester of phthalic, malonic or maleic acid, then polymerisation and optionally sulphonation. The Cu levelling deposit is suitable for receiving a Ni or Cr plate.
