Abstract

1337585 Adjustable aircraft seats TELEFLEX Ltd 1 June 1971 [1 June 1970] 26392/70 Heading A4J A cantilevered seat squab support 13 of an aircraft seat has a thigh support 34 which is adjustable about a horizontal pivot axis 35. Adjustment is effected by a device 36 pivoted at one end to the thigh support and at the other end to the seat squab support. The frame of the seat comprises a central spine 11 carrying a lumbar support 24, a shoulder cushion 25 vertically adjustable by means of a rack and a headrest 26 vertically adjustable in a slide 27 at the back of the spine, a "pelvic" frame unit 12 to which the central spine is pivoted for recline adjustment about an axis 15 and a pedestal 18 supporting the frame 12 and telescoping in a base 16 such that both height and rotational adjustment of the seat may be effected, said base being slidably mounted in floor track rails 17. Recline adjustment of the central spine is effected by a pair of spinning disc type cylinder devices 20 connected at one end to short lever arms 21 on the spine and at the other end to the squab support 13 at 23. A pair of arm rests 28 are mounted on the outer ends of transverse shafts (29) Fig. 1 (not shown) which project outwardly from bearings (30) on the spine such that the arm rests can be turned upwardly into a raised stowed position indicated at 31. The height of the armrests may also be adjusted by means of knurled adjusters 43. One or more of the seat adjustment facilities can be powered by a power pack 19 in front of the pedestal 18. The power drive and the three rail floor track are described in Specification 1337586/70.
