1337193 Collapsible shower cabinets H C BOLT and J A BOLT 3 Feb 1972 [9 Feb 1971] 4226/71 Heading A4N A collapsible shower cabinet of the type disclosed in Specification 1267705 includes linkage mechanism mounted at a rear end on the upper end portion of the back structure 20 of the cabinet and having a front closure member 66 mounted at a front end, the linkage mechanism being movable from a folded position within the back structure to a generally horizontal position whereby the member 66 is moved from a retracted position within the back structure to a forward position in which it serves as a front closure for the shower space, the top edge of member 66 being in approximately the same horizontal place in both the forward and retracted positions. The linkage mechanism may comprise a set of pivoted levers 49, 50, 51 on each side of the cabinet carrying an angle member 53 supporting a curtain rail slidably carrying a curtain 66, the member 53 also supporting the front end of flexible sheet 46 forming a roof and having its rear end secured to the back structure 20. Alternatively, the linkage mechanism may comprise two rigid sheets (72), (73), Fig. 10 (not shown), the rear sheet (72) being pivoted at its rear end to the back structure and at its front end to the rear end of the front sheet (73), the front end of which supports the member 66, the sheets (72), (73) forming a roof. The front end of the front sheet may be guided by sliders (78) moving in horizontal channels (81) on the pivoted sides of the cabinet and channels (80) on the side of the structure 20. Alternatively, or additionally, the front sheet (73) may be guided by arms (82), Fig. 11 (not shown) pivoted to the back structure 20 and to the sheet (73) to form a parallel linkage. The linkage mechanism is coupled to the bottom tray 38 so that opening and closing movements of this tray effect opening and closing movements of the linkage mechanism.
