Abstract

1336956 Linear motors WEDAG WESTFALIA DINNENDAHL GROPPEL AG 13 Dec 1971 [11 Dec 1970] 57808/71 Heading H2A A belt conveyer 1 is driven by a linear reaction motor, the wound member 4 of which comprises the stationary member of the motor and preferably is arranged above the bottom run of the belt, a housing 5 surrounding the member 4 and being connected to a compressed air supply. The air passes through gaps in the member 4 to cool the motor and presses the belt against idler rollers on a supporting table to maintain the air gap constant. Alternatively, the table may be omitted and a sensing device provided on the conveyer for controlling the air supply to keep the air gap constant.
