Abstract
1336793 Fluid actuators G BOWYER 12 April 1972 [28 Jan 1971] 3429/71 Heading F1D A fluid actuator comprises a flexible elongated output member 12 and means operable by fluid under pressure to effect lateral deflection of the member 12 whereby the member contracts in the longitudinal direction. The fluid operable means shown is an elongate flexible bag 15 expanded to cause opposed parallel strips of the member 12 to enter depressions in a body 10 thereby to move an eye 14 connecting the ends of the strips towards the body 10. In an alternative construction the output member is in the form of a pair of integral hollow base-to-base cones (20) containing a spherical resilient bag (22). Expansion of the bag causes the apeces to move towards each other.
