1336065 Photo-sensitive materials OZALID CO Ltd A R A BEEBER and R LANDAU 11 Oct 1971 [15 March 1971] 6849/71 Heading G2C A photo-sensitive material suitable for production of dry transfer sheets comprises a transparent, gas-impervious support coated in one or more layers with a light sensitive substance which generates a gas on exposure, a gas impermeable binder, a pigment and an adhesive and if there is more than one layer, the adhesive is in the top layer, and in nearest layer to the support is the light-sensitive substance and binder except when the substance is film-forming the binder may be dispensed with. Preferably, the material comprises a support coated with a layer of lightsensitive diazonium or azicle compound in a binder, overcoated with a layer containing a binder and a pigment and optionally an adhesive or an adhesive and silica may be applied as a third layer. Specified binders for light-sensitive layer are cellulose esters, vinyl polymers and copolymers, acrylic polymers and copolymers, polymethane, starch, oxidized starch, gum arabic or tregacanth, gelatine, casein and abbumin. Specified pigments are silica, bentonite, kaolin and barium sulphate. The overcoat may contain a pigment and an adhesive in one or two layers so that it may be readily stripped off with the exposed areas. The remaining unexposed areas may be uniformly exposed and then transferred to a receptor sheet by rubbing.
