Abstract

1335967 Collapsible containers; packages KRAFTCO CORP 5 Nov 1970 [17 Nov 1969] 52635/70 Headings B8D and B8C A package 13, comprising a filled collapsible, longitudinally-seamed plastics tube having its ends gathered together and held by metal clenching bands 26, is provided with a cap 15 having a dispensing orifice 29 and bonded, preferably by a pressure sensitive adhesive, to one of said ends with the clenched tube end portion 19 protruding through the orifice. The package is opened by clipping off said clenched tube end portion, and its contents, e.g. cheese, dispensed through the orifice by squeezing the tube. The orifice is provided with leaves 35 to form a star-shaped extrusion. The cap may be moulded of plastics or formed from sheet metal, paper or plastics or laminates thereof. The package is formed by folding and longitudinally seaming a multiply web of vinylidene chloride polymer and polyethylene into tubular form by heat-, ultrasonic-, or electronic sealing techniques as the tube is being filled.
