Abstract

1335635 Gettering PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 11 Nov 1971 [14 Nov 1970] 52408/71 Heading H1D A getter element 1 for use in mercury vapour discharge devices comprises a gettering substance 2 which is active at room temperatures and which is separated from the atmosphere in the tube by sintered porous bodies 3. Suitable getters are zirconium hydride or a mixture of zirconium, aluminium, tungsten and nickel. The porous bodies can be tungsten.
