Abstract

1335284 Wells &c CAMCO Inc 2 Sept 1971 41020/71 Heading E1F In a mandrel 10 having a substantially circular bore 18 aligned with well tubing 16 and a housing 22 having a valve pocket 24, the housing is welded in the mandrel by axial welds 42 laterally offset from the bore axis 42 towards the housing by an amount less than the mean radius of the bore, the mass of the material of the housing is sufficient to prevent housing distortion during welding, and the housing wall 46 forms a portion of the, circumference of the bore. The fixing of the housing in the mandrel includes welds 54. The housing is forged and the pocket is machined prior to welding in the mandrel. (For Figures see next column)
