Abstract
1335151 Steelmaking CENTRE DE RECHERCHES METALLURGIQUES-CENTRUM VOOR RESEARCH IN DE METALLURGIE 4 April 1972 [31 March 1971] 15502/72 Heading C7D In a basic Bessemer process using commercially pure O 2 , lime is introduced through the mouth of the converter subject to the following criteria: (i) the quantity is lower than 25 kg/kg of Si initially contained in the pig iron; (ii) the surface area of the quantity is at least 80m<SP>2</SP> / metric ton of pig iron; (iii) part of the lime has a surface area higher than 2À5m<SP>2</SP> /kg of lime. The lime can be added before or during the first two minutes of blowing, and can be introduced pneumatically.
