Abstract

1335007 Reciprocating pumps SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE-GESELLSCHAFT 5 April 1972 [6 April 1971] 15771/72 Heading F1A A pump for dispensing adjustable measured quantities of liquids or pastes, e.g. cream, comprises a bellows 5 connected to an inlet 12, via an inlet valve 14, and to an outlet nozzle 37 mounted on a diaphragm outlet valve 24, the bellows being mounted on plates 1 and 2, one or both of which is or are movable through an adjustable distance to operate the bellows. As shown, plate 1 is fixed and plate 2 is movable by an air motor 41 between stops 42, 43, at least one of which is adjustable. Valve diaphragm 24 engages a seat 36 in its closed position, the seat comprising a portion of member 25 or a separate sealing ring. Diaphragm 24 may be integral with or attached to nozzle 37 and may be self-opening and closed by application of compressed air to connection 40, or self-closing and opened by the discharge pressure of the liquid dispensed. The self-closing embodiment of diaphragm 24 may employ an additional continuous compressed air closing bias. A plurality of pumps may be mounted between common plates 1, 2. The valve operation and motor operation are synchronized. The pump is cleaned by flushing with both valves open or by pumping cleaning liquid. The bellows and diaphragm valve may be of P.T.F.E.
