Abstract

1334983 Isothiocyanates CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED 1 Feb 1972 [15 Feb 1971] 4690/72 Heading C2C Isothiocyanates having the general formula wherein R is a hydrogen, chlorine or bromine atom or an ethoxy or nitro group and Z is a sulphur atom or the -SO 2 - group are prepared by treating an amine hydrogen chloride having the general formula with thiophosgene in an organic solvent immiscible with water and of a higher specific weight than water, in the presence of a weak base. The solvent is preferably chloroform or ethylene chloride and the weak base is preferably sodium hydrogen carbonate or calcium carbonate.
