Abstract
1334612 Centrifugal filter FIVES LILLECAIL 19 April 1971 [17 March 1970] 24434/71 Heading BID A centrifugal strainer separator comprises a cylindrical basket 10 mounted for rotation at the lower end of a driving shaft 12 which is suspended in pendular fashion on a supporting frame 14. The basket is connected to the driving shaft by a flexible coupling, e.g. a ball joint 13. or a universal joint, ensuring the rotation of the basket whilst permitting rocking movements of the rotor relatively to the shaft, a resilient restoring device, e.g. a resilient ring or series of studs 15, interposed between the basket and the shaft opposing these angular movements of the basket. The driving shaft itself may be flexibly connected 22 to the shaft of motor 23. The coupling between the driving shaft and the basket also suitably includes a damping device (Fig. 3, not shown) to brake the rocking movements of the basket relatively to the shaft and the precession movement of the shaft-basket assembly, e.g. in the form of discs (53) mounted transversely on the driving shaft so as to be capable of sliding on the shaft and taking up variable inclination relative to the axis of the shaft, the edge of the disc being clamped between two jaws (57) fast with the basket. A centering device may also be provided which makes it possible to keep the driving shaft and the basket coaxial thus suitably being in the form of a cone (43) (Fig. 3, not shown) which may be displaced upwards to bear against a corresponding conical recess (45) to prevent angular movement. Means may also be provided for preventing angular movemet of the driving shaft relative to the supporting frame (Fig. 4, not shown).
