Abstract

1334342 Caissons K E LANGNER 30 May 1972 25191/72 Heading E1H A caisson for sea or river bed operations comprises a plurality of telescopically arranged cylindrical metal sections, the lowest one carrying a base member, the highest a work platform, which sections are lowerable sequentially until the base engages the sea or river bed. Circumferential stop members limit the extension of each section, and any unextended sections remaining when the base engages the sea or river bed are extended by increasing the pressure within the caisson. Each section has pivotally attached peripherally to its base a number of support columns which, when the pressure within the caisson is relieved, lock the caisson in the extended position.
