Abstract
1333982 Suppressing interference; smoothing systems SOC GENERALE DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES ET MECANIQUES (ALSTHOM) 7 Jan 1971 [15 Jan 1970] 902/71 Headings H2H and H2F A system wherein an electric locomotive propelled by D.C. traction motors 3, 4 is fed from a D.C. supply conductor 1 by way of a switching device 5 is provided with means for neutralizing the effect of transients set up by the operation of the switch device. The system is provided, in one embodiment, with a tuned filter comprising a capacitor 7 and an inductance 6 which forms one winding of a transformer. The other winding of the transformer has injected therein a voltage which is opposite in phase to the transient voltage existing across the winding 6, this injected voltage being controlled by a signal developed from the conductor 1 by a 50 c.p.s. filter 11, transformer 8 and transistor amplifier 9, 10. In a second embodiment a further switching device is connected in parallel with the capacitor 7, operation of which device causes a current to flow which neutralizes the transient current flowing in the filter 6, 7.
