Abstract

1333359 Derivatives of 4-(piperazinomethyl)- indole DELALANDE SA 31 May 1972 [7 June 1971] 25372/72 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein R is ethoxycarbonylmethyl, dihydroxypropyl, pyrrolidinocarbonylmethyl, morpholinocarbonylmethyl or R<SP>1</SP>R<SP>11</SP>NCOCH 2 , R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>11</SP> being each H or C 1-3 alkyl, and a process for making them by reacting 3-ethoxycarbonyl-5- hydroxy - 2 - methylindole with a 1 - R- piperazine and (CH 2 O) 3 , in acetic acid. Therapeutic compositions for oral or rectal administration comprise compounds of the above formula, which have analgesic, anti-inflammatory, sedative, antihistaminic, hypotensive, diuretic and spasmolytic activity.
