A plurality of wheels 2 may be set up in turn to set up a line of text by means of electromagnetically actuated levers (12a ... 12f, Fig. 1) carried along the line by a screw-driven carriage (11). The carriage (11) may carry a restoring element (19) which by displacing the feelers from their recesses also lifts the catch 20 and permits the wheel to rotate. The wheels 2 may carry type characters and indicator characters.
