Abstract

1333174 Laminates MINNESOTA MINING &MFGCO 11 Aug 1971 [12 Aug 1970] 37813/71 Heading B5N [Also in Division H1] A flexible laminated magnetic sheet is made by passing a synthetic rubber/magnetic powder mixture through coldrolls, and repeatedly doubling over the sheet and passing it through the rolls at gradually increasing roll spacings to form a 32 layer laminate. After 1 day, this laminate is repeatedly put through the rolls at gradually reduced spacing, and the resulting thinner sheet is again repeatedly doubled over and passed through the rolls at increasing spacing. The product is air cured at 150‹C. The magnetic composition comprises acidtreated barium ferrite (Division H1) in a butadiene-acrylonitrile binder. In a second embodiment, the binder is cis -1, 4-polyisoprene, and the laminated sheet is subjected to a magnetic field during curing.
