1333008 Oligomeric glycolic esters VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT SINTETICHESKIKH VOLOKON 12 Oct 1971 [16 Nov 1970] 47350/71 Heading C2C Oligomeric glycolic esters are prepared by continuously feeding a particulate aromatic dicarboxylic acid and a gaseous aliphatic glycol having up to four carbon atoms to a reaction chamber to form in the chamber a. melt of oligomeric ester, and continuously withdrawing the melt from the reaction chamber. Preferred acids are terephthalic, isophthalic, and n,n<SP>1</SP>- diphenylmethane dicarboxylic acids and mixtures thereof and preferred glycols are ethylene, 1,3-propylene and butylene glycols. The reaction may be carried out using an esterification catalyst.
