Abstract
1332776 Doll's hands MATTEL Inc 10 April 1972 [26 Oct 1971] 16475/72 Heading A6S Turning the hand 18 of a doll anti-clockwise about the axis 52 of its pivot connection with a wrist member 18 abuts a wall 54 at the end of an arcuate slot in the wrist with a lug 48 on a thumb 56 to turn the latter also anticlockwise about the axis 58 of its pivot connection with the hand, to the position shown in dotted lines, against the biass of a spring 44. Continued turning of the hand 18 in the anti-clockwise direction then slides the lug 48 of the thumb over a circumferential surface 60 of the wrist to latch the thumb 56 in the open position. By bending the hand 18 back to the position shown, the spring 44 turns the thumb 56 to grip an object placed beneath it.
