Abstract
133,263. Otto, M. P. April 29, 1919. Wood, treating with gases.-Wood is seasoned by the combined action of hot air and ozone in an apparatus comprising an ozone - generator A, an air heater C, and a mixing chamber D, so arranged that the wood mav be treated successively with hot air alone, ozonized air alone, and ozonized air and hot air mixed together. The wood is loaded on trucks K<1>, K<2>, &c. running on rails in a long chamber, at the end of which are air locks H, I. For continuous circulation, the gases in the chamber are withdrawn through ports F at one end of the chamber by a fan E and led back by a duct B to inlet ports G at the other end. Spent air and vapours escape by the chimney L operating by natural draught or an exhaust fan M.
