Abstract
1332510 Ethylene polymerization UNION CARBIDE CORP 26 Oct 1970 [27 Oct 1969] 50709/70 Heading C3P Ethylene is polymerized or copolymerized using a catalyst comprising (a) a silyl chromate containing a group of formula where R is a hydrocarbon radical of 6 to 14 carbon atoms and (b) a mixture of organoaluminium alkoxides or phenoxides having one to two alkoxide or phenoxide groups per molecule. Other details are as disclosed in Specification 1,146,145. Catalyst components specifically described are (a) bis-triphenylsilyl chromate and (b) mixtures of two diethylaluminium alkoxides derived from ethyl, isoamyl, #-phenylethyl, and 10-pinylmethyl alcohols, and phenol, the catalysts being supported on silica.
