1332299 Hot water boilers RADIATION Ltd 27 Oct 1970 [11 Nov 1969] 55101/69 Heading F4A An apparatus for dispensing hot water includes an outer easing 2, a housing comprising inner and outer walls 3, 4 separated by an air space 5, a water-holding vessel 10 separated from the housing by a flue for combustion gases from a gas-burner 20 which heats the vessel, an arrangement for drawing-off water from the vessel e.g. tap 17 and fitting 9, and a cistern 18 connected directly to the vessel for supplying water thereto as water is drawn-off. Within the vessel 10 there may be a tubular partition 13 terminating in a cone 14 with an aperture 15. The partition supports a floor 26 leading boiling water to fitting 9. To bring the apparatus into use, tap 17 is opened to draw-off any water in collecting box 26a. Pilot burner 21 is ignited and a main gas tap turned on thus igniting burner 20. Water in vessel 10 is heated and the water between the vessel wall and partition 13 quickly reaches boiling point and overflows into box 26a and out of tap 17. Unless boiling water is then required tap 17 is closed and the supply of gas to burner 20 is reduced to a maintenance level by means of mechanism 23-25. On opening tap 17 again, burner 20 switches on to full power. Heat exchange fins 12, 12a, 12b may be provided in the flue space.
