Abstract
1331075 End face seals HAEMONETICS CORP 14 Dec 1970 59384/70 Addition to 1212392 Heading F2B In sealing means 69 for a centrifuge comprising a rigid sealing ring 74 frictionally secured to one end of an elastomeric sleeve 73 and urged into facial sealing contact with a shoulder 63 of a non-rotary effluent tube 56, the other end of the sleeve 73 being secured to the rotary centrifuge body 10, locking means are provided to prevent relative rotation between the ring 74 and the body 10. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the outer surface of the central section 81 of the ring 74 has eight straight sides 82 and engages a similarly formed recess 83 in the body 10. In a modification, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), keys (86) on the ring engage keyways (87) in the body. The ring 74 may be of carbon, graphite or P.T.F.E. containing graphite and the tube 56 is preferably of aluminium with the shoulder 63 hardened.
