Abstract

1330857 Taking up slack in flexible elements SIEMENS AG 23 Oct 1970 [2 June 1970] 50573/70 Heading B8B [Also in Division A5] A support for a supply line 3 of a dental hand instrument 2 comprises an arm 4 preferentially pivotable in a plane relative to a support 1 against a restoring force provided by helical springs 6, 7 connected at their lower ends to the support and at their upper end by means of a bridge 5 to the arm 4, the springs permitting deflection of the arm from the said plane but providing a further restoring force tending to return the arm to the plane. In another embodiment, Fig. 5, (not shown), a shaft (17) extending transversely of the lower end of arm 4 is held by a spring (18) in open V-shaped bearings (15, 16). Alternatively, Fig. 6 (not shown), a V-shaped open bearing (20) attached to arm 4 may be held by springs (21, 22) against a shaft (24) on a support (23). In a further embodiment Fig. 7 (not shown), a leaf spring (26) connects the arm 4 to a cylindrical holder (27) so that in moving the arm from an inoperative position to an operative position the spring is wound around the holder. The spring (26) may be arranged to actuate a switch (28) on moving the arm to a predetermined position.
