Abstract

133,082. Rector, E. Oct. 16, 1916, [Convention date]. Vaporizers, external.-A vaporizer, comprising a coil 40 which terminates in a ribbed cross-shaped pipe 37, is mounted in a casing open at the bottom and heated by a burner 14. Both burner and coil are supplied with oil by a pump 9 through pipes 46, 47 respectively. The vapour issues from nozzles 32 at the end of the pipe 37 into an annular chamber 17 open at the bottom for the admission of air, and the mixture of air and vapour passes to the engine under the control of a throttle valve 30 which is connected to a valve 48 in the delivery pipe 45 of the pump 9. The burner has a pilot-jet supplied with oil by a pipe 52 from near the pump intake, so that when the oil flows through the pump, it ceases to flow to the pilot burner.
