1330523 Ball mills ALLIS - CHALMERS MFG CO 21 Oct 1970 [29 Oct 1969] 50010/70 Heading B2A A rotary mill 10, Fig. 1, includes an end liner assembly 30 which comprises a plurality of radially-extending sector-shaped of individual liner members 44, the radially outermost circumferential row of the liner members bearing against a rigid outer structure 36 of the mill. An inner support 46 engages a radially innermost circumferential row of liner members thus retaining the individual liner members under radial compression. The liner members are arranged in radial rows, e.g. 44a, d, g, Fig. 2. As described in one embodiment the inner support 46 comprises a grinding pad, as at 47 which is part of a wear plate which is rigidly secured by bolts 56 to an end plate 22 of the axil. Lifter bars 60 are positioned between respective pairs of circumferentially-spaced wear plates. The lifter bars may be arranged in grooves, either to permit wearing down of the wear plates, Fig. 4, by undercutting, or flush with the wear plate surfaces, Fig. 5. Lifter bars of half the radial length shown in Fig. 2 may be used permitting rearrangement to compensate for unequal wear. The discharge end of the mill includes grate castings 100, Fig. 7, and a discharge core 91. A discharge chamber 104 is formed between each casting 100 and wear plates 110, 112, and castings 87, 88, 89. Supplemental integrallycast lifter bars 45, 115 are provided at the feed and discharge ends, Figs. 2 and 7. In place of the grinding pads, 47, 50, 54, Fig. 2, or 114, Fig. 7, the wear plate assembly, or assembly of wear plates and grids respectively, an arrangement of wedges may be positioned in the clearance space between, e.g. the radially inner-most edge of the radially innermost set of wear plates 144, and the liner member 146, Fig. 8.
