Abstract

1329824 Tractor hitch MARSHALL-FOWLER Ltd 19 April 1971 [30 Oct 1969] 53186/69 Heading A1P [Also in Division B7] A track-laying tractor 1 drawing a plough 4 or similar implement through the soil is steered through the plough by applying a turning force between the tractor and the plough after engaging a differential connection between the drives to the two tracks. An I.C. engine drives the tracks through a differential gearbox or through two hydraulic pumps driving separate hydraulic motors for each track and having a valve-operated cross connection between the inlets to the hydraulic motors. The turning force is applied by a double acting hydraulic ram 9 connected obliquely between the tractor body and one of the lower tension links 7 of the three point linkage. The ram also helps to prevent side play when the implement is raised.
