Abstract
1329390 Valves IPRA INDUSTRIA PIEMONTESE RADIATORI AUTOMOBILI SpA 8 May 1972 [22 Sept 1971] 21371/72 Heading F2V In a valve for controlling fluid flow to a heat exchanger of a motor vehicle heating system the diaphragm closure 12 is actuated by a thermostatic bulb 32 responsive to vehicle interior temperature via an inner plastics cup 25, spring 31 and outer plastics cup 13. The valve is opened and closed by a control lever 45 which acts on the bulb 32 via a pin 48 and which is pivoted both by a pin 44 and a pin 43 and slot 46 to a lever 36 pivoted by pin 43 on the valve casing. A roller 50 on the lever 45 bears on a profiled surface of a lever 51 which is connected by a spring 54 to the lever 36. The arrangement is such that on initial opening movement lover 45 pivots about pin 44 to give small displacements of the bulb 32 and then when the valve has opened appreciably it pivots about pin 43 to give larger displacements of the bulb 32. When the valve is closed pin 48 bears on the outer cup 13 to directly press the diaphragm 12 against its seat against spring 24. Screw 42 adjusts the position of lever 36 relative the valve casing. The profile of lever 51 is arranged to exert on lever 45 a closing couple, an opening couple and a movement-opposing couple respectively in closed, open and intermediate positions of the lever 45.
