Abstract

1329326 Pharmaceutical emulsion P E G WENMAEKERS and M E J WENMAEKERS 9 Nov 1971 [9 Nov 1970] 51944/71 Heading A5B An aqueous emulsion suitable for topical application has a pH of about 6.2 and comprises in the dispersed phase (a) 5-20% of fatty acid or fatty acid ester, (b) 1-30% of emulsifier, (c) 2-40% of humectant, (d) 0.1-5% of protective colloid and (e) 5-60% of wax and for oil based on the total weight of (a)-(e). The composition may also comprise an antiseptic, a bactericide, a fungicide, an antibiotic or a corticoid. Ingredients specified include: Stearin, sodium alginate, triethanolammonium alginate, hexadecanol, liquid paraffin, anocado oil, squalene, triethanolamine, isopropanolamine, water, hexachlorophene, propane-1,2-diol, glycol monostearate, and hard paraffin wax.
