Abstract
1328365 Sintered metal fibre plates MITSUI MINING & SMELTING CO Ltd 24 Nov 1970 [28 Nov 1969] 55813/70 Heading C7D A porous plate of metal fibres is made by felting the fibres (e.g. of Cu, Pb, Zn or alloys thereof) sintering and pressing the felted platelike mass in a mould with higher pressures being applied to some portions of the plate than to other portions to give the first portions a density of at least 70% of that of the metal and containing sintered bonds, the density of the rest of the mass being up to 60% of that of the metal wherein there is substantially no sinter bonding. The fibre diameter may be 30-150 microns. Uses:- Catalyst carrier, electric cell electrode, sound absorbent or filter for gases or liquids.
