Abstract

1327758 Printers' blankets DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd 19 April 1971 [11 April 1970 24 June 1970] 17303/70 and 30611/70 Heading B6C [Also in Division C3] A printer's blanket comprises a compressible layer of a cellular resilient polymer the cells of which have been produced by incorporation of hollow microspheres in the polymer. The polymer may be polychloroprene or a nitrile rubber and the microspheres may be of glass, phenolic resin, carbon or thermoplastic plastics material (which may be expanded into microspheres after incorporation in the polymer). The blanket may comprise at least one strengthening layer, a printing surface, and a textile fabric or rubber film layer between the printing surface and the compressible layer. The strengthening layer may be flexible filamentary material embedded in a flexible polymer sheet. The filaments may be of cotton, rayon, polyester, nylon, polypropylene, carbon or glass and the polymer sheet may be nitrile rubber blended with polypropylene or nylon. The printing surface may be a veneer of nitrile rubber.
