1327754 Measuring liquid levels, pressure sensors DRAYTON CONTROLS Ltd and A P V CO Ltd 17 Nov 1970 [28 Nov 1969] 58326/69 Headings G1H and G1L An apparatus for measuring the liquid level in a tank includes a housing 8 with a flange 8a for a pressure sensor 3, 4, 5, secured to a casing 2, for a mechanically actuated transducer assembly 1, and securing means 19-22 operable from outside the tank to draw the flange 8a towards the inner surface of the tank about an aperture within which the housing is to be secured. The pressure sensor includes two diaphragms 4, 5 with silicone fluid between connected by actuating rod 6 to force bar 7. Movement of the diaphragm causes force bar 7 to pivot and actuate flap 12 to vary the bleed rate from nozzle 13, and hence vary the gas pressure in pneumatic relay 14. The output from 14 actuates an indicator and recorder and also bellows 15 which moves rod 7 in opposition to the original distributing force. The apparatus is placed in position from inside the tank, recess 18 being provided in casing 2 to assist turning the casing to the position shown. After inserting the transmitter housing it is secured within sleeve 17 welded to the aperture by means of stud bolts 19, C-shaped mounting plate 20 and nuts 22. Gasket 23 provides a seal.
