Abstract

In a differential pressure measuring instrument a known type of pressure responsive diaphragm applies a force proportional to a differential pressure to the lower end of a force bar 18 to pivot the bar 18 about a diaphragm 20, normally in the counter-clockwise direction to press a stud 24, passing freely through the bar 18 and adjustably secured to the end of a spring 22 secured to the upper end of the bar 18, against a disc 28, attached to a plate 30 connected by a flexure strip 32 to a link 34, to apply a force to a flexible strip 58 to pivot an L shaped bar 62 about cross-flexures 70 thus moving a motor armature 64 relative to a magnet 72 to alter the current flow through the windings of motor armature 64 to rotate the bar 62 counter-clockwise about the flexures 70. The force applied to the strip 58 is maintained at the correct magnitude by a known differential transfer detector device 80 which operates with a solid state amplifier to produce a D.C. control signal for the coils of the motor 64 which also serves as an output signal at a remote station to actuate indicator, recording or control apparatus.
