Abstract

1327681 Electro-photography STAMICARBON NV 19 April 1971 [2 April 1970] 26819/71 Heading G2H A developer powder which may be transferred magnetically comprises porous inorganic carrier material loaded with 5-25% of ferromagnetic material and coated with thermoplastic material. The carrier material may be silica, alumina, titania, zirconia, magnesia, or a silicate. Silica, alumina or titania may be formed by flame hydrolysis. Iron and cobalt may be precipitated on the carrier material from a mixed solution. The thermoplastic material may be petroleum wax, polyethylene, or ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer. A dispersion of the loaded carrier material in a melt or solution of the thermoplastic material may be atomized. The particle size of the developer powder may be 1-100 microns.
