Abstract

1327678 Filter for fibrous suspensions N A L WIKDAHL 19 April 1971 [4 March 1970] 22868/71 Heading BID A filter for fibrous suspension comprises one or more frusto-conical perforate elements 1, 2 dividing a housing into a central inlet zone and one or more accepts outlet zones 7, 8, 9, the peripheral part(s) of the inlet zone having rejects outlets 16, 17, elements 1, 2 having a cone angle of 90 to 175 degrees, preferably 120 to 150 degrees. A motor driven shaft 19 carries an axially adjustable sleeve 22 bearing radially adjustable rods 20 which clean the upstream faces of elements 1, 2. The housing and elements 1, 2 are each divided on a horizontal plane, the housing halves being hinged together (Fig. 2, not shown). The housing has an axial inlet 6 and accepts outlets 13, 14, 15, which may be commoned inside or outside the housing. In Fig. 3 (not shown) the elements are differently arranged. The elements could be surfaces of rotation generated by curved rather than straight lines, in which case the angular limitations apply to all possible tangents thereof.
