Abstract

1327643 Springs and barrels LANDIS & GYR AG 23 Nov 1971 [25 Nov 1970] 54383/71 Heading G3T In a self-winding watch or spring reserve clock in which the outer coil of a spiral mainspring 3 may slip on the inner surface of barrel 1 to prevent overwinding, at least two rings 6 are provided in the barrel to receive the mainspring pressure and to prevent wear on the barrel. The arrangement shown comprises two hardened steel rings 6 in grooves 7 in the barrel, but more rings may be used and the grooves dispensed with. The crosssection of the rings may be elliptical or rectangular and they may alternatively be made of bronze or a polyimide resin containing p.t.f. e. An auxiliary spring 5 is provided to increase the radial pressure on the outer coil of the spring 3, and the space between the outer coil and the barrel is filled with a lubricant.
