Abstract

1327489 Electron beam magnetic deflection apparatus INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 22 Dec 1970 [30 Jan 1970] 60724/70 Heading H1D The core of a magnetic deflection yoke comprises a hollow open ended member provided at each end with hooks the gaps between which are angularly aligned. The core may be cylindrical or tapered and may be magnetic or non- magnetic, or may comprise alternate rings of magnetic and non-magnetic material (Fig. 7, not shown). The hooks may be provided on end caps of plastics material 120 and 130, Fig. 4, which are aligned on the core and cemented in place; preferably one of the end caps has an extension passing through the interior of the core to form a liner with longitudinal slots adapted to accommodate the windings. Coil winding.-The feeding tool 300 passes wire 205 under tension along a longitudinal slot and beyond the lower end cap; the mounting 290 is then displaced normal to the plane of Fig. 4 and rotated by the motor 280 until the tool is aligned with the adjacent slot thereby looping the wire over the intervening hook; then the mounting is moved back normal to the plane of Fig. 4 and the tool 300 moved upwards followed by further displacement and rotation of the mounting to complete one turn. This. process is repeated to provide the required number of turns, and then turns are wound similarly round the two slots lying outside the first two, and so on.
