Abstract

1327205 Nitrogen base salts of bis(perfluoroalkylsulphonyl)methanes MINNESOTA MINING & MFG CO 1 Sept 1970 [2 Sept 1969] 41851/70 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises compounds of the formula [(R f SO 2 ) 2 CR] y X in which each R f is C 1-18 perfluoroalkyl, R is hydrogen or C 1-6 alkyl, and X is a cation of a basic nitrogen saltforming compound of pK6 value less than 13À5, and of valency y; and their preparation by reacting (R f SO 2 ) 2 CHR with a suitable basic compound. Specified basic compounds are amines, quaternary ammonium hydroxides, ammonia, ammonium hydroxide, hydrazine, guanidine, aminoguanidine and guanylurea. Solvents may be used. The compounds are latent catalysts for polymerization of epoxides.
