Abstract

1326862 Capacitors CERAVER 17 Feb 1972 [18 Feb 1971] 7502/72 Addition to 1250364 Heading H1M In the fluid-cooled power capacitors forming the subject matter of the parent Specification, low induction connection is made to outer electrode 5 through an annular aperture in thermal insulating layer 10, the connection comprising a tubular metal member secured against layer 10 and provided at the level of the aperture with inwardly biased resilient tongues 18 contacting electrode 5, and/or connection is made to inner electrode 4 by metal tube 19 disposed coaxially within the capacitor near one end and provided with outwardly biased resilient tongues 18 contacting electrode 4. As shown the tubular member is constituted by two member 13, 14 secured together by their flanges 16, only member 13 having welded to its inner surface a beryllium copper tape including contact tongues 18. Members 13, 14 may each be formed from two flanged semi-cylindrical members rivetted together (Fig. 2, not shown). Connection may be made through additional rows of contact tongues extending through further annular apertures in layer 10. As shown tube 19 is integral with end plate 20 and has a berylliumcopper tape bearing tongues 18 welded to its outer surface. Alternatively tube 19 may have contact tongues both ends and may make parallel connection between the inner electrodes of adjacent capacitors (Fig. 4, not shown).
