Abstract

1326833 Derivatives of o-(4-phenylpiperazinoalkyl)nitrobenzene SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 10 Aug 1971 [15 Aug 1970 8 Sept 1970] 37551/71 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of formula and their acid addition salts, wherein R 1 , R 2 are each H, halogen, C 1-5 alkyl, C 1-3 alkoxy or CF 3 , or R 1 -R 2 complete a heterocyclic ring (e.g. benzodioxole or benzodioxan); R 4 is H, halogen, C 1-5 alkyl, C 1-3 alkoxy or CF 3 ; Y is C 1-5 alkylene; and X is CN, C 1-6 alkanoyl or aryl-C 2-5 -alkanoyl. Reduction of these compounds affords the corresponding 3-(4-phenylpiperazinoalkyl)indoles. Compounds of the above formula are prepared by reacting together the corresponding (1) 2-nitrophenylcyano (or acyl) alkyl halide or tosylate and phenylpiperazine, (2) 2-nitrophenylcyano (or acyl) methane and phenylpiperazinoalkyl halide or tosylate.
