Abstract
1326691 Pastry cutting apparatus WARBURTONS Ltd 15 Dec 1971 [14 Jan 1971] 1879/71 Heading B5A A pastry feed arrangement comprises op- posed rollers 13, 13a defining a nip and a cutter 17 comprising cutting edges 17a which form transverse lines of slits across the width of the web of pastry delivered from the nip, the slits of any line being staggered in relation to those of adjacent lines. In the embodiment shown the cutter consists of blades set in grooves around the periphery of a roller, each blade being of castellated form to produce a series of short cutting edges along the length of the blade with gaps therebetween (Fig. 2, not shown). The gaps of one blade are offset relative to those of the next succeeding blade around the periphery. Instead of a roller the blades may be set into an endless belt. The slit pastry web 15 is delivered on to a conveyer 14 moving at the same speed and from there on to a second con- veyer 14b moving faster so that the slits are opened out to form a lattice. A doctor blade 16 cleans the roller 13 of any pastry which may adhere to it.
