Abstract

1326471 Hydrostatic transmission control LINDE AG 14 Jan 1971 [15 Jan 1970 10 April 1970] 1775/71 Heading F2D In a control system for a hydrostatic transmission wherein a follow-up servo motor 9 adjusts the displacement of a pump 1 in response to movement of a pilot valve 14 actuated by pressure liquid supplied through lines 15, 16 from manually controlled valves 17, 22, a bleedoff valve 34 responsive to an operating parameter (e.g. speed or torque) is connected through a shuttle valve 31 to the control pressure lines 15, 16 downstream of restrictors 33. As shown, pumps 1, 41 of identical hydrostatic transmission driving tracks on opposite sides of a vehicle are driven from a common engine and are in closed circuit with the variable displacement motors 4, 44. A manual control 39 selectively actuates control valves 17, 22, 57, 62 which supply pressure liquid frcm an auxiliary pump 6 through control pressure lines 15, 16, 55, 56 to opposite ends of the pilot valves 14, 54 to effect idential or differentical displacements of the pumps 1, 41. The control pressure lines 15, 16, 55, 56 are additionally connected through shuttle valves 23, 63 to pilot valves 25, 65 controlling follow-up servo motors 28, 68 which adjust the displacements of the motors 4, 44. The spring loading of the pilot valves 25, 65 is such that the motor displacement, remain unchanged until the pump displacements are maximum. The control pressure lines 15, 16; 55, 56 are additionally connected through shuttle valves 31, 71 to the bleedoff valve 34 which, as shown, is normally held closed by a centrifugal governor 35 responsive to engine speed. When the engine speed falls below a predetermined value a spring 36 moves the valve 34 left to vent the control pressures and thus reduce the pump displacement. The spring 36 is adjustably loaded by a lever 37 connected to the engine fuel control. The bleedoff valve may be controlled by a governer responsive to output speed to prevent excessively high output speeds. In Fig. 2 (not shown) a hydrostatic transmission for the hoist of a crane has an electromagnetically actuated bleed-off valve (130) controlled by the load on the hoist. The line (126) between the control pressure lines (123, 124) and the bleed-off valve (130) is additionally connected to the actuator (133) of a valve (134) controlling admission of pressure liquid to a brake release cylinder (136) so that when the valve (130) vents the line (126) on overload, the valve (134) automatically applies the brake to the hoist.
