Abstract

1326148 Rotary piston machines DAIMLERBENZ AG 14 Dec 1971 [16 Dec 1970] 58016/71 Heading F1F A composite sealing strip 5, 6 having a biasing spring 7 is secured together by spots 8, 9 of heat-destructable adhesive before location in an axially extending groove 4 in a rotary piston 1, the strip having a length L greater than the width B of the housing periphery 2 so that the strip is compressed by the side walls 3 to break the adhesive bonding during assembly of the housing. Any adhesive remaining, or at least its bonding effect is destroyed by heating during operation of the machine. The spot 8 of adhesive may be located centrally of the strip, or may be offset therefrom. The machine may be a Wankel-type I.C. engine.
