1325984 Refuse transporting system; winches J ALTVATER 20 Jan 1972 [15 Feb 1971] 2770/72 Headings B8B B8E and B8Q Refuse is transported between filling and discharge stations in compressed form in cylindrical containers rolled from the transport vehicles over supports by winch driven tow lines. Each container surrounded by U-shaped bands 3 and a T-shaped band 9, Fig. 12, is supported on bearing pedestals 10 at a filling station, Fig. 4, where it is engaged by a funnel 12 having a shoot 13 formed at the upper half with a surface 14 forming a counter-pressure die in conjunction with blades 7 of the end funnel 6 of the container. The rollers 22, Fig. 6, of the pedestals are drivable by motors 23 and engage bands 3 to rotate the cylinder so that refuse introduced through the shoot 13 is entrained by an internal helix 5 to feed it into the container where it becomes compressed. When filled the container can be withdrawn from the filling shoot and the end closed by a lid 16, Fig. 12, to pneumatically seal the container to permit its partial evacuation and withdrawal of liquid. The containers can be moved to and from the filling shoot by the pedestals 10 running by rollers 20, 21 on guide mono rails 11 and can be rolled over transverse supports 18 to and from a transport vehicle. A similar discharge station is provided. The containers are drawn over the supports 18 by a cable 31 attached to an endless winch driven cable; the cable 31 being secured to the container by a scissor device 33, Fig. 10, which engages the band 9 of the container.
