1325681 Road vehicle signals I COCKLIN 2 July 1970 [15 July 1969] 35647/69 Heading G4Q [Also in Division B7] A public service vehicle safety device prevents the closure of the exit door or doors and selection of a gear by the driver when a passenger is standing on the vehicle steps after the driver has stopped the vehicle and operated the door switch. The device comprises three electric relays L, I, and D, the relay D being energized through a switch H closed when a passenger is standing on the steps. Energization of relay D causes energization of an illuminated sign over the exit door and removes negative feed from an electro-pneumatic door operating unit C which also inhibits the vehicle gear change mechanism.
